Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 in the Olympic event. Bela Karalyi discovered Comaneci at the age of six. She would later become the Romanian gymnastics coach. The year 1969 was the first time she competed at the Romanian Junior Championships where she placed 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. In her first international competition in 1972, a pre-Olympic junior meet for the communist-bloc countries she took home three gold medals. In 1973 and 1974 she became an all-around junior champion. When she competed for the first time at the senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva, a Russian athlete, won five gold medals as well with one silver. In 1976, she won the American Cup at the New York City Olympic Games and became the first woman ever to remove the bars in parallel with the double backward salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. The story of Carol Wayne in the world of entertainment began as a teenager. Along with her sister Nina Wayne, she joined touring entertainment programs known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6, 1942, on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol began her career in entertainment during her teenage years. Her first professional gig was figure skating alongside Nina Wayne, her younger sister as part of traveling entertainment programs Ice Capades. The show featured dramatic ice skating shows.
